Well-loved Lakefront Cottage For Sale on Woods Pond, Bridgton, Maine

Open Concept Cottage Overlooking Woods Pond, Bridgton, Maine

At 69 Waterview Trail on Woods Pond in Bridgton, Maine, sits a well-loved lakefront cottage waiting for a new family to make memories. The current owners purchased the cottage in 1995 and were enamored with it the minute they stepped through the door.

They loved the “open, airy feeling” of this three bedroom cottage that was built in 1960. That feeling comes from the open concept living room, dining area and kitchen, plus a loft above for kids to sleep or play. The kids will enjoy climbing the ladder to this “secret” space. Skylights also add to the feeling of airiness. The owners also enjoy the large deck, closeness to the waterfront and the expansive yard.

Woods Pond is a 462-acre pond with a maximum depth of 29 feet and a mean depth of 17.5 feet. The water quality is average. A boat launch and wash station are easily accessible at the southern end of the pond on Route 117. A town beach is located in the same area.

Named for Bridgton’s first surveyor, Solomon Woods, who came to the area in 1776, Woods Pond is long and narrow. It’s a great place to fish, kayak, water ski, sail and enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The fishing is described as excellent; expect to catch brown trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white perch and chain pickerel.

Views from the cottage “are awesome, only enhanced by the changing seasons,” say the current owners. Sometimes the views include wildlife sightings such as loons, ducks, mergansers, blue herons, deer and hummingbirds.

This property is large enough for family get-togethers, though the current owners did find one restriction to be that there is only one bathroom. Over the years the owners have enjoyed sitting by the campfire, taking walks in the dark, tubing and water skiing. They’re thrilled that their children and grandchildren have had fun playing in the lake and visiting nearby attractions in New Hampshire. And they think the neighbors are awesome.

“We enjoy the solitude and the ease of keeping the cottage neat and tidy. We also realize the benefit of having a hospital very close by,” say the current owners. If they were to make any changes, it would be to possibly add on to the 864 square feet.

Just five minutes away by car is the town of Bridgton–home to an eclectic group of stores, restaurants and New England charm. Bridgton has its own drive-in theater and a traditional movie theater. The owners’ favorite local spots are the following: The Cool Moose, Reny’s Department Store, Black Horse Tavern and Ken’s Kove. The pond is located about eight miles from Shawnee Peak ski area.
